Jackets & hoodies manufacturer sourcing / 04

Jackets and hoodies engineered to layer over your collection.

We match activewear jacket manufacturers to layering fit, brushed fabrics, zips, cuffs and coordinated trims. Outer layers are bought for how they look over everything else. The fit problem is not the jacket — it is the jacket over a bra, a tee and a set of leggings, with a phone in the pocket, in a car seat.

What buyers need to know

Layering changes every measurement.

02

Layering fit, not standalone fit

A half-zip fitted on a bare model will bind across the back the moment a tee goes underneath. Outer pieces are fit-reviewed layered over the collection pieces they will actually be worn with, which usually adds ease across the shoulder blade and lengthens the sleeve before the block is signed off.

03

Fabric platforms: shell, brushed and bonded

Lightweight woven shells, brushed back french terry and bonded softshell each behave differently in drape, shrinkage and print durability. Most jacket and hoodie ranges run on two platforms, not five — that keeps color approval, minimums and lead time under control.

04

Trims are where the cost and the failures live

Zip brand and gauge, puller shape, cuff elastic recovery, pocket bag fabric, drawcord tips and hood construction — these decide both the shelf price and the return rate. They carry their own minimums and their own lead times, so they are locked at quotation rather than discovered during sampling.

05

Shrinkage and appearance after wash

Brushed and terry fabrics move in the wash in a way that performance knits do not. Shrinkage allowance is built into the pattern and verified on a washed sample before bulk — an unwashed first sample tells you almost nothing about the garment your customer will own.

06

Quantities and calendar

Stock outer-layer programs start at 100 pieces mixed; custom development normally from 300–500 pieces per style, with trim minimums sometimes setting a higher floor on a specific zip or hardware. Quotation in 24 hours, stock samples in 3–4 days, custom first samples around 7, AQL 2.5 final inspection before shipment.

How MOQ actually works
07

What you can actually customize

Stock programs from 100 pieces: color from the developed range, your logo method, main and care labels, hangtags, polybag and carton marks. Custom development from 300–500 pieces per style adds fabric platform and weight, color matched to your Pantone reference, pattern and panel lines, waistband and trim construction, size chart and grading. Before you commit we tell you which side of that line a given change falls on — that is usually where the budget is won or lost.

08

How we de-risk a first order

A free logo mockup before sampling, so you see placement and scale before spending anything. Sample fees are credited back against your first bulk order. And if a fault is ours, we re-make it at our cost. Those are the terms a first program deserves.

09

What we need before we can quote

A category, a rough quantity per style and a launch date are enough to get a number back within 24 hours. Tech pack, fabric specification or a reference sample shorten the process if you have them. If you have none of it, that is a normal starting point rather than a problem — a reference garment and a target price is where most first collections begin.

Three product types, three specialist factories — one project to manage

“I'll happily use the best factory for each product. I won't become the project manager between three of them.”

The garments were finished. The order still couldn't be packed.

“Finding a packaging problem in the final week is the most expensive, most unnecessary rework there is.”

01

Why is my jacket quote higher than my leggings quote?

Trims and labor. A half-zip carries a zip, pullers, cuffs, pockets and a hood, each with its own cost and minimum, and it takes several times the sewing operations of a legging.

02

Can jackets match the colors of my knit pieces?

Close, and we will tell you honestly how close. Woven shell and brushed knit take dye differently — matched lab dips are approved side by side under the same lighting so you see the real result before bulk.

03

Do you make matching hoodie and jogger sets?

Yes — set programs are color-approved together and shipped as coordinated deliveries so the two halves never arrive from different dye lots.
