A set-in sleeve looks cleaner on the hanger and restricts overhead reach; a raglan or drop-shoulder moves better and reads more relaxed. That choice is made before pattern work, because it changes the armhole, the sleeve cap and where sweat shows. We fit-test tops in overhead press and rowing movement, not standing still.
Weight, opacity and the white problem
Light tops sell the fabric; light tops also go see-through. Anything under roughly 150gsm needs opacity checked in the actual colorway — whites and pastels behave differently from black in the same knit. Where a lighter hand feel matters more than coverage, we spec a bonded or double-layer front panel instead of adding weight everywhere.

Cropped tanks and ribbed layering pieces run beautifully on seamless machines with zero side seams and mapped ventilation. Structured tees with contrast panels, printed placements or a defined shoulder line stay cut-and-sew. Most top ranges end up using both routes and one shared color standard.
Choosing the construction routeHems, necklines and the things that fail first
Coverstitch tension on a cropped hem, neckline recovery after twenty washes, and bindings that ripple on a curve — these are the workmanship points that decide whether a top looks cheap after a month. They are written into the sealed standard and checked in-line, not discovered at final inspection.
Quantities and calendar
Stock top programs start at 100 pieces mixed across colors and sizes; custom development normally from 300–500 pieces per style. Quotation in 24 hours, stock samples in 3–4 days, custom first samples around 7 — with appearance-after-wash testing specified before bulk and AQL 2.5 final inspection before shipment.
What you can actually customize
Stock programs from 100 pieces: color from the developed range, your logo method, main and care labels, hangtags, polybag and carton marks. Custom development from 300–500 pieces per style adds fabric platform and weight, color matched to your Pantone reference, pattern and panel lines, waistband and trim construction, size chart and grading. Before you commit we tell you which side of that line a given change falls on — that is usually where the budget is won or lost.
How we de-risk a first order
A free logo mockup before sampling, so you see placement and scale before spending anything. Sample fees are credited back against your first bulk order. And if a fault is ours, we re-make it at our cost. Those are the terms a first program deserves.
What we need before we can quote
A category, a rough quantity per style and a launch date are enough to get a number back within 24 hours. Tech pack, fabric specification or a reference sample shorten the process if you have them. If you have none of it, that is a normal starting point rather than a problem — a reference garment and a target price is where most first collections begin.

Sometimes, and it is worth checking rather than assuming — legging fabric is usually heavier than a top wants. Where the hand feel matters more than the match, we hold the color standard constant and let the weight differ.
02How do you stop cropped hems from curling?
Rib or bound hems instead of raw-edge on knits that curl, coverstitch tension recorded on the sealed sample, and a wash test before bulk. Raw-edge crops are possible but only on knits that have been tested for it.
03Do you print or embroider logos on tops?
Yes — screen, transfer, silicone and embroidery are all available. Placement, wash durability and hand feel over the print are approved on the pre-production sample.
